Valérie Jouve had photographed the first two seasons at Gennevilliers, focusing on encounters between artists and local people (in 2007), and the role of the individual as a spectator of the world and the urban environment (2008). She returned to Gennevilliers in spring 2009 to capture the dialogue between bodies in motion, their immediate space and the wider context of the distant city.

"There are mutliple layers of meaning in our relationship to the world of pictures and imagery. All pictures have a documentary value, together with their own inherent emotional content. For me, the story of our time can be read in our bodies just as much as in places. I want to provide a running commentary on today's world.".
